He is a college registered physician in BC (CPSBC) and a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC) in emergency medicine. Dr. Van Dewark is also a member of the Canadian Association of Aesthetic Medicine (CAAM). He actively teaches, and is a published researcher, and medical author in his role as a clinical instructor within the faculty of medicine at the University of British Columbia.
